Vic’s Tricks To…Sausage & Pepper Burgers

Jump to recipe

Y’all I really did something here with these Sausage and Pepper Burgers.

If you know me, you know I love grilling in the summer. One day, while I was grilling up some sausage and peppers and burgers I thought…why not combine?!

And thus, I present: Sausage & Pepper Burgers.

All the best flavors in the sausage and the juiciness of the fatty ground beef combine to make the ultimate flavor bomb.

So good, you won’t go back to a normal burger again!

In this example, I’m using my trusty Weber Grill, but you can easily adapt this to the stovetop! I’ll provide those substitutions throughout.

Preheat a grill (or oven) to 500°.

Combine sliced peppers and onions with 1 tbsp of olive oil, 1 tsp garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper.

Place into a sheet of aluminum foil and wrap loosely into a packet. Doesn’t have to be perfect. And place it onto the preheated grill or into the oven.

Vic Trick: I like to keep a roll of heavy duty aluminum foil around for times like this. Works so well on the grill without ripping!

Meanwhile, prepare your patties.

Combine 1/2 lb ground beef and 1/2 lb ground sausage being careful to not overwork it. Just loosely combine the two meats.

Vic Trick: For the juiciest burgers, you want to ensure you have ground beef with high fat content. 80/20 is typical, so look for that.

Form into 4 equal sized patties and sprinkle liberally with salt & pepper. Set aside.

Vic Trick: This is the perfect time to start the side you plan to make, as the patties need 5 mins to get to room temperature and the veggies need more time to cook.

5 mins after making the patties, place them onto the grill (or onto a skillet or cast iron preheated to medium high) and cook for 8 mins. Flip and cook for another 8 mins or until the internal temperature reaches 145°.

Top with provolone cheese and cook for another 2 mins or until the cheese is melted.

Remove the patties and the foil packet from the grill and let both rest for at least 5 mins.

Serve the patties on a bun, topped with the peppers and onion, and that’s it!

These go perfectly with a side of Vic’s Tricks To…Cauliflower Tots!

Super easy and so so so yummy! Give them a try and let me know what you think!

Happy Eating!
