Vic’s Tricks To…The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie (A Journey)

Prologue: A Sad, Sad Life

Christmas, 2016 – after a 10-year wait, the unthinkable happens…

2006 – It all started with a young girl of 15. One day, she discovered her friends, and more importantly, her teachers (such a kiss-ass), liked her wayyy more when she brought them homemade treats. Oh my, what a discovery! (that came out creepier than intended, but I’ll let it stand).

Okay, I’m a little younger than 15 here. But, I’d still rock that sweater set to this day.

And so she embarked on a lifelong mission of getting everyone to like her (which, of course, ended soon after it started).

She baked brownies and cupcakes and cookies galore,

for the jocks and the nerds and even the whores!

Everyone loved her and her grades were great,

too bad it was all just cause of her cupcakes…

Yup, that girl was me. Minus the “everyone loved me” part (that came later ;)). I did get good grades… but I also wasn’t drinking everyday then, sooo…anyway, I digress.

Moral of the Story:

Been baking for a long time, but the real game-changer happened this year when my ever-so-gracious mother granted my fondest of wishes:

SHE GOT ME A STANDING MIXER, Y’ALL!!!! (Oprah voice).

     isn’t she a beauty?!

What? You’re not that excited? Or you are, which may even be sadder…

REAL Moral of the Story:

I have a standing mixer now, and that means it takes me like 20 minutes to make cookies! While this may sound like I am bragging (I am), don’t worry, there’s also something in it for you.

I can finally perfect my chocolate chip cookie recipe! (Phew, took a while to get to the point on this one, huh Vic?).

Last night began the journey (sponsored by KitchenAid)*, to the PERFECT chocolate chip cookie.

NOTE: People have different opinions in regards to what the best kind of chocolate chip cookie even is.

Chewy or crispy? Cakey or buttery? Thick or thin? Super sweet or maybe a little salty/sweet?

People don’t always realize how many different factors can affect the outcome of the cookie.

Softened butter or melted butter? Salted or unsalted or add salt? Brown sugar or white sugar or both? Semi sweet or milk chocolate chips? Chunks?!

Winnie loves butter!

Altering any of the above will change your cookie entirely. I know right?! Crazy. Don’t worry, I’m here to lead the way.

This will be an ongoing series through which I will be posting the results of my chocolate chip cookie experiments. My goal is to try enough different variations of the same recipe, to help guide you to the cookie of your dreams!

Stay tuned; stay hungry!

Vic
