Vic’s Tricks To…Brown Sugar Kielbasa

Jump to recipe

This is my #1 crowd-pleasing appetizer. Brown Sugar Kielbasa.

It’s so darn delicious. Especially in the fall, when brown sugar is at its peak. But, I’ll eat these things all day any day.

But once again the best part…they’re so so super easy! This recipe is so simple and it’s perfect for a make-ahead party app.

If that’s not a textbook Vic Trick app, I don’t know what is…

Preheat oven to 350°.

First, in a large saucepot, combine 1.5 cups of brown sugar, 2.5 tbsp stone ground mustard, 1.5 tbsp of white vinegar, and a tsp of black pepper. Whisk over medium heat until the sugar has melted, then lower the heat all the way and let it sit while you prep the kielbasa. Add a little water if it’s too thick.

Cut the kielbasa down the center, longways, then into small, bite-sized chunks. Throw them into the sauce and let them cook for a minute or two as you stir to coat each piece.

Then, using a slotted spoon or tongs, place the kielbasa onto a baking sheet lined with parchment and bake for 15 minutes. Don’t stress about getting the sauce on the parchment, but we don’t want too much on there.

Vic Trick: The parchment is ESSENTIAL here. The sauce will absolutely stick to anything else and it’s a real pain in the ass to clean the baking sheet. It also helps for the next step…

Taking the edges of the parchment, pick it up and slide the kielbasas back into the sauce.

Toss them again to coat then repeat the step of placing them back onto the sheet and baking for another 15 minutes.

Remove from the oven and BANG that’s it! Brown Sugar Kielbasa! Serve with some toothpicks and you have the perfect most delicious party app!

Vic Trick: If making ahead of time, put it in an aluminum tray and bake in the oven at 350° until warmed.

Happy Eating!
